As a kid I witnessed many conflicts between my parents and because of that a poem was born.
—
When I was a kid and living with my parents I witnessed many arguments. Some of these disagreements would end quickly while others would drag on and cursing could lead to threats and that could lead to a physical altercation. Whatever the reasons were these arguments would have an affect on me whether my parents intended to or not. One of the effects that came from these experiences were the poetry that helped me to express and reflect on my feelings during this period of my life. Now as I look back at this poem that is located below it serves as a warning that the disagreements that I have with my wife can have an affect on my children. That it’s important to remember the tone of the conversation and the words we use that could be consumed by little ears. So as you read this poem I ask that you reflect on your own family relationships and ask yourself if the disagreements you have with them are affecting your children. If they are maybe it’s time for a change.

Eyes tighten
Heart broken
Breathe holding
Hand sweating
Brain working
Body trembling
Memory burning
Words cursing
Family fighting
Prayer flying
Childhood dying
